To create a good image, the camera will need a good lens. For simple imaging systems it is possible to select a cheap plastic lens to do the job. When it becomes more important to detect smaller details without any distortion, the imaging system will require a more suitable lens. With today’s Megapixel cameras, up to 16 Million pixels, the CCD size is getting bigger and bigger. Regular industrial lenses are no longer capable of creating a quality image.
